Hayslett Group serves as a member of the public involvement team assembled by ARCADIS Engineering, which has a master contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation to review one of Georgia's busiest roadways, the northern crescent of Interstate 285 between I-75 and I-85.
The goal of the project, expected to last several years, is to create transportation solutions to address the long-term needs of this vital corridor.
Launched in early 2006, the
project made a splashy entrance with a press event. GDOT Commissioner Harold Linnenkohl, Chief Engineer David Studstill and members of the project team
delivered information to a group of key officials from within the project corridor. Hayslett Group was able to secure attendance by three television networks, two radio
stations and reporters from major print
publications.
In July, Hayslett Group conducted the first of several public surveys to determine attitudes, corridor usage patterns and preferences for a variety of potential solutions. The results will help guide an ongoing public outreach
program that will last throughout the length of the project.
The second phase of the project, which began in October, includes extensive
public meetings, stakeholder interviews, business community surveys and
localized presentations.
Hayslett Group has assisted in planning these activities and will be integral to their execution as well as maintaining an ongoing media relations program.
"Hayslett Group has been a huge asset to our public involvement team. They bring a unique insight into effectively communicating complicated transportation planning projects, and their execution during our launch event was phenomenal."
