Hayslett Group wins Three Phoenix Awards in Georgia PRSA Competition

ATLANTA, November 2007 - Hayslett Group LLC, an independent, Atlanta-based public relations firm, won three Phoenix Awards from the Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for its work on behalf of Georgia's hospital industry. Georgia PRSA announced winners at an awards ceremony held earlier this month.

Hayslett Group won the Phoenix Awards and one Certificate of Excellence for its work on the Save Georgia Healthcare Coalition, which was organized in 2006 to defend the state's Certificate of Need (CON) system against multiple legislative attacks.

The statewide advocacy campaign included planning and managing a grassroots campaign, creating and maintaining a Web site that served as a virtual headquarters for the campaign (www.savegeorgiahealthcare.org), media relations and other activities. The campaign helped educate journalists, lawmakers and other key audiences on the importance of keeping the state's CON system in place. In the end, the campaign successfully helped block efforts to eliminate or undermine existing CON laws during the 2007 Georgia General Assembly.

Hayslett Group won the Phoenix Awards in the public affairs, issues management, and integrated communication categories. The Certificate of Excellence was for the Web site portion of the campaign.

PRSA also recognized the agency's work on the Georgia Department of Human Resources statewide trauma public awareness program. That program drew attention to the need for a statewide trauma network. Hayslett Group won a Certificate of Excellence for this campaign's brochure development.
